THE LIVING END
The Living End
You wont
be hearing the phrase "one hit wonder" where this Australian
punkabilly trio is concerned. Their aim to integrate the great musician
ship of rockabilly with the raw aggression of punk. These three wont
be neatly cataloged. You can hear a bit more than youd expect
coming from this album.
They come on strong from the start with the albums first single Prisoner
of Society, a punk song in the vein of "the Clash".
They blend in a bit of ska on All Torn Down Trapped
and I Want a Day. Which infuse a bit of swing as well. My
favorite is Bloody Mary. It sounds like the soundtrack of
a Raymond Chandler spy novel; very slick and sexy (in a low-down dirty
way). They keep on swinging at you until the final song Closing
In. This is a all instrumental rockabilly very smooth and jazzy.
Youll feel like you need a cigarette at the end of it all. The
self-titled album is powerful. From start to Finish, the next song is
better than the last.
