The Big Pill will BLOW YOUR MIND! If your mind is open to crossover musical hybrids. Partly Jazz, part hip-hop, a bit rockin, a tiny bit o' ska and some Jamaican spice. They are all about the groove.

The CD starts out with what sounds like a live jam boasting the power of their live show. Setting up the party vibe of this band before kicking in to the slick jazz melodies of the track "Vagrant". The first track is caught in a time warp swinging moody smoky vocals of an old Jazz dive, but then busting big bodaciuos breaks of a more contemporary sound with rock guitar riffs and slamming drum back beats. Next up is a tune that flows like a beat generation poem. Hype-hop burning jazz with some sweet horn overtones and an interesting inset of turntables. Next the DJTruiz9 gets to flex his turntable muscles on the track "Much Bigger" Scratching them into the song and holding it together tightly. The vocals in this track have a nice rhythmic delivery to them that almost make them become and instrument of their own. Some fat nasty horns are all over the cut "Lucky 13", giving it a dirty swig you can get your own 'nasty' to. "Fat Side of Skinny" is ripe for moving your body too. And I'd be lying if I didn't say it was cool to hear a message of men liking women with a bit of meat on them. The 6th song on the album forces the band to put the "Parental Advisory" sticker on the cover. "P.O.P." (stands for the power of pussy), opens with a disclaimer. Best part of this song is the sweet rhythm section. The tune "Richman" comes in low slow and smooth, and is nicely put together from start to end. "Coffee Boy" warms up with a sample of the circa 1930's song "Cream of My Coffee" before going into a soothing cocktail version of a tale about how people are treated because of how they look or who they are. The most radio ready song is on this album, is "Sleeper" it's just slightly more commercial if this band can be commercial. The final track "Heroin" plays like an experimental funk/jazz. The guitar in this is completely brilliant. The Bass line is borrowed right from Parliament. Like the subject of the song it is addictive and will deliver a sweet musical dream.

If all the words above didn't tell you about this album let me give it to you here straight up. Everything about this album is killer. This band is killer. Don't take my word for it cause it may not be your thing, but if it sounds like something you can get into give the tracks a spin on the bands site www.thebigpill.com. If you like what you hear pick it up. Bands like this depend on us to keep them going, and they are more than worth it.
