AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH
ANTHRAX SINGER JOEY BELLADONNA

by Alex Distefano

Tell me what it means to you, and the band to be back on stage playing music?

It is one of those things, where it's great to be back! I respect the musicianship of this band, and it's an honor, I am HAPPY to take on another shot at this. It's really one of those great natural things, and I'm HAPPY with what we've been doing so far!

Did you ever think this line up would reunite?

I had my ideas of how and when this whole thing was gonna play out. I was wondering how long it would take, where they'd wanna switch gears. To change is NOT an easy task. There was a certain chemistry we had, and that can't be recreated. It's just impossible, and I'm glad they feel that way too.

What are your immediate future plans, (after the la show), and why did you chose to play LA?

We'll be playing in New Jersey on June 3rd!! Then after a few weeks off, we'll head to Sweden. From June 9th, to July 18th, we'll be playing quite a bit of overseas festivals. We're looking at a possible Fall tour of the States. We're currently talking to other bands. But there are no specifics yet.

Can you tell me about the plans for a possible DVD?

We've been filming all this since it first happened. We've filmed all our live shows so far, and there are plenty more out takes. WE filmed a lot of us just getting together, and hanging out.

Is there a possibility of this reunited Anthrax making any new music together?

Anything at all is possible. As a fan, It only seems logical over the years. Everyone's gone out and done so many different things. We'll see if it works out. If it does, then we'll spend time, because we don't wanna rush it. We haven't talked about it, so to be honest, I'm just as interested as you are. It's all possible but up in the air at this point, we may or may
not.

What can we expect after you tour overseas as far as an American tour goes, any ideas of the size of venues or other bands on the bill?

I'd expect to be playing mostly mid sized venues, places that fit 1,200-1,500. THEN But then again, you never know really, certain cities may be different. I LOVE playing clubs, I mean talk about being up close! Wherever we end up though, we'll be fine.

As for our possible Fall tour, we are aiming for a package tour. If it
turns into an even, then I'd rather go with that. I don't mind local bands, but
at the same time, it'd be great to get another CLASH OF THE TITANS TOUR going
again!

What are some of the newer heavy bands you are into, if any?

I listen to so many bands nowadays. Fear Factory, Foo Fighters, Sevendust, just all kinds of metal. Also Staind. There is so much new stuff out there that is really neat.

I met Dave Grohl once, and he was in AWE. TO have someone like that be that way to meet me, it's an honor. A lot of people come out to our shows, and they're really into it. They see the hard work we put into it and the quality that comes out.

I do also notice a lot of different people of various age groups, and I appreciate that. It's a nice gesture, and it's nice to give back. It's nice to not be a dud. We put on a great time, and everyone comes out and jams. We love it! Its been a long time!

Any final words for fans out there?

I just wanna say that I am REALLY REALLY HAPPY to be part of the band again. It's great to take on a tour with great intentions. It's great to touch base with one another again. I appreciate everyone sticking by me. There is DEFINITELY something magical here.
