An Incubus show is best described in their words, "Blink and you miss a beat… Blink. Everything's been augmented…" Those lines from the tune "Consequences" are left lingering in my mind as I recall memories of the show. It was awesome live! This was easily one of the best shows so far this year.

In support of their sophomore release "Make Yourself" the guys find themselves still on the road after wrapping up the Sno-Core Tour with System of a Down and others. This headlining tour for Incubus brought them to the Galaxy, playing to a sold out house of fans and friends. Opening were Hoobustank and Ultraspank, two damn fine bands and favorites of the Scene. The small venue was filled with just a few of the bands all star friends, the guys from hed (pe), Rooster, Inc. and Dial 7 to name a few.

The band played a long set having a good time with the tunes and each other the whole time. These are the kinda guys you'd love to just hang out with. They all have personalities that just come spilling off the stage, so that you almost feel you know them. They have a sense of humor, too, as they proved on two accounts; first, pulling a prank on one of the opening bands at the end of their set, and again when Jerry from Ultraspank decided to return the favor. He came out in his boxers and did a little dance, the guys were all cracking up, even Brandon, but you couldn't hear it in his voice, he didn't skip a word or miss a beat. It was hilarious!

The Incubus vibe is total fun and their groove is sensual to the point of bliss. As a glance around the fully packed room would only prove, every few feet you could witness a woman in a sexy full body sway, arms reaching to the sky and hips in rotation. That sexy groove supplied by one damn awesome band doing their thing their own way. Incubus played their collections of uniquely-written songs with even more depth and texture than you notice in the recordings. When this band gets to work they can force you to move your body in every song.

DJ Kilmore laid down his solo, the man is totally equipped to rock you out, all on his own. You just gotta love that instrumental song "Balttlestar Scarlatchica," that's the one where beautiful Kilmore kills you with his turntable techniques. "Pardon Me" was so spot on, they did the regular version not the acoustic one.

Brandon demonstrated his diversity by playing his didgeridoo in "Nowhere Fast", adding flavor to this tune tightly structured around the rhythm of the drums and bass. Every member of this band brings a distinct element that this band could not exist without. And when you put these five guys on a stage together, what you've got is one *GREAT* show!
After they finish this tour they go out again with 311. They are workin' it. If you did not get to see either of the last two shows here I highly suggest you see them when they are back in the LA area in June with 311, cause that show is gonna be off the hook!
