You ever run into a band that wanted it so bad you could taste it? That just wanted to scream, screech, pound, and scrape their way to the top? I believe I just did, because complete with Office Depot-brand CD label and enclosed contact information/tour dates, Clusterfunk brought its way upon the desk of yon dude. Really, one word pretty much came to mind while listening to 3 Songs For You. Keeper!

Opening with 'Choices', the distorted vocals (which later on fracture off into two separate parts flying off at once, done excellently) add the cherry atop a bitchin' sundae, as the song never lets up with the tone of aggression and finger-flying rock attitude. Then, while not completely changing, 'Sandcastles' goes straight into top 40 territory, while not completely killing off the rock vibe (the double bass in the final minute is just cool as the other side of the blankey on a cold night). Think of Papa Roach meets Blink-182, only no rap and more rock. And wouldn't we want to have it that way, anyways?

Bringing the death knoll to the three song sampler, 'Man Minus Lab' (a guess on that last word) starts off with the world famous hard rock opening, only to flow to a calmer verse. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, a scream not too far from Richard Patrick territory signals a hard-ass chorus, which pretty much holds up throughout the song. It's the world famous rollorcoaster know as a hella cool rock song: somewhat sane verses lead to sheer terror-filled choruses. Thankfully, 'Choices' and 'Man Minus...' follow this to perfection, while they show off a more delicate yet still-headbangin' style with 'Sandcastles'. Great variety in musical tastes never hurt anybody, and with this talent in the hands of Clusterfunk, there's only one way to go for them: straight through the roof.
