Artist: Kid
Rock CD Review CD Title: Cocky WEA/Atlantic Records By Adam Bowman Kid Rock is what he says he is: one part rock, one part country, and one part rap. On his latest effort, Cocky, the Kid strays not from his original formula found since we heard "Shotgun Blast" and later on, "I Am The Bullgod". Rather than try and pick apart the entire work looking for some sort of subtle change that Rock or the Twisted Brown Trucker band have made, it's best to realize that the new album is a continuation of Devil Without A Cause, which catapulted Kid Rock's career to the sky. Although there are guest spots done by Snoop Doggy Dogg and Sheryl Crow, most people are going to remember the singles "Forever" and "Lonely Road Of Faith" (although "Never Met A Motherf***er Quite Like Me" has to be one of the better titles of the year) simply because it's what they're most familiar with, and because the rest of the album follows the same attack plan. Anybody that's picked up any of Rock's other works and dug it are bound to like the new stuff. If you're hoping Kid Rock makes new history, though, keep waiting until his next release |
