| Heavy metal warriors charge (hed) first into battle! | |||||||||||
| This was first of two shows just before the band goes off to work on their third album for Jive Records. The band went in to pre-production on February 4th and were planning to start recording on the 7th if all went as planned. But before they headed into seclusion in the San Diego studios they came to deliver to their loyal followers. | |||||||||||

| If you don't know much about this band, you might be wondering what they are all about. You need to take stock of what's inside the (hed)pe arsenal. On an attempt to understand where (hed) is at, you might neatly place them into line among the rap-core bands, but their sound is bigger than that. What other bands do in that genre is a pale and watered down version of what (hed)pe is capable of. (hed) was rocking that vibe way before any of these newcomers. We should have placed this band on top of that genre and stopped there. At any rate, don't dismiss them check them out of you have the chance. Pick up one of the albums and see for yourself…. But the real test of what (hed)pe has to offer is in the live arena where they thrive. | |||||||||||

Jahred (M.C.U.D.) |
(hed)pe are monolithic heavy metal soldiers who work the stage like a battlefield. The outcome is one of ultimate destruction when they drop the bomb. They assault you with a cataclysmic crash of sonic wonder. Sound with ferocity and an attitude to match. Like a bullet in your face they come at you assured and uncompromising. Blast of sound waves travel at you with lightening speed. Their metallic crushing energy pared with the violent vocal shrapnel forced out of the throat of dynamic frontal attack man M.C.U.D. (Jahred). His signature irreverence is a big flying "F-you" in the face of the world... cold and resolute. That's what they are about and that's what they delivered. | ||||||||||
| The audience was made up of the usual faithful as (hed) took commanded of the hungry crowed. They played an extra long set and even hit the crowd with an encore. Some of the songs were "Killing Time", "Bartender", "I Got You", "The Meadow", and "Waiting to Die" from the bands second CD Broke. They also played a couple of older tunes. One was played as an ode to much beloved Lynn Strait. Jahred took a moment and reminisced about the last time they played the Key Club with Snot (back in the day). The boys also pulled out a couple of the new tunes they are working up for the new album "The Only One", "Bury Me", and "Suk it Up". Another killer moment was when Feildy (KoRn) came on stage to show his love for the boys he asked the crowd "who wants to see KoRn and (hed)pe on tour this year"? The kids went wild. Since it looks like both bands will have new albums out at about the same time it's looking like a good possibility that a tour might happen. | |||||||||||

| The Key Club's tiny room packed full and every body was in motion. Some were waging their own personal war in the form of the mosh pit (which was in full action for the entire set). While others just got in to the songs anyway their bodies knew how. The crowd was captivated by every sound. Nearly every mouth was forming the motion of every phrase along with the band. The six members causing total havoc on the stage working in tight unison to accomplish their goal. In the end they emerged from the battle victorious as they claim the crowd under a tight strangle hold with their charismatic and fierce sounds. | |||||||||||
