Candiria CD Review
By Adam Bowman These aren't normal musicians. Operating on a frequency that most musicians would run away from faster than the local teeny-bopper station, Candiria makes a damn fine case for the idea that chaos is the best way to go in metal. With "The Coma Imprint", random bursts of energy are the call of the day. Jazz, funk, metal, and rap all come together in a collage best described as what you would get if John Coltrane and Bootsy Collins hooked up with Pantera. "Peel This Strip And Fold Here" is jazz by way of Miles Davis, while tracks like "Paradigm Shift" and "Primary Obstacle" are true-blue metal (although I DARE anybody to see that little break in "Primary Obstacle" coming...I dare you.) "Molecular Dialect" and "Divided" go even further still, adding elements of techno to the already ambitious mix. If you're wanting to hear how to metamorphisize between musical styles with seeming ease, "The Coma Imprint" is the perfect blueprint.
