Divided by Zero

The Viper Room Friday, June 21st

by Caren Spitler

This band is just another reason to get off your ass and turn off the TV. If you can catch these San Diego madmen in town playing a local haunt, I suggest you do just that... get off the couch and go!

This was the first show for the newly renamed band. Divided by Zero is a band that by any other name still rocks! Bringing you the storm of sound are guitarist Jeremy Ronstadt, on bass Rice Enright, drummer Jason Vick, vocalist Zach Goode, and the newest addition on the second axe James Albers. Divided by Zero are heavily percussive and tighter than ever they pulled out a forceful grove that had the crowd wanting more. Intense vocals give this band life, but the spirit truly lives in the rhythm section. Jason's beats keep it moving strong at moments bringing you to the edge just before he switches and give you sweet release. Rice on the other end helps you feel the grove down to the bone, he works the bass like few do, but more should. Those who have known the band over the years as Ghoulspoon know that they pull their musical power from many different styles. What has emerged over time is a style that is completely unique to the band. There's still a slight taste of influences here and there, of everything from Bob Marley to Zeppelin with some Chili Peppers thrown into the mix. What you end up with in the end is a metallic mixture that has both balls and a soul. Divided by Zero is a band to watch cause they are definitely ready to step up to the next phase.

We'll be watching to see what this band does next until then check them out at www.dividedbyzero.tv.
